I refuse to vote for anyone who supports genocide. Period.
Here in Canada, it means that neither of the parties Trudeau nor Poilievre lead will get my vote.
And if I was in the USA, I would probably vote for Jill Stein, since both the Democrats and Republicans support Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Even though the Democrats are deeply divided on this matter, the money and military equipment Biden sends to Israel is ongoing.
Isn’t it time to break up the duopoly? Isn’t it time for a woman President? Most of all, isn’t it important to vote for someone who shares our values?
I also wouldn’t vote for a party that supported the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)’s legal definition of anti-semitism. This definition could make criticism of Israel’s genocide in Gaza illegal.
And it disappoints me that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and other members of the squad haven’t left the Democratic Party over its stand on Palestine. Why isn’t genocide their red line? It should be the red line of every caring human being.
After watching this impassioned speech by AOC, it broke my heart to then hear her talk about the rising anti-semitism on the left months later.
Here is what the USA is supporting. And here’s a breakdown of what AOC had to say about anti-semitism on the left.
Oh, and that pier? I was skeptical when I first heard about it being built to deliver aid to Gaza, since the USA continues to arm and send money to Israel, and my fears were confirmed. The pier was used to load an aid truck with soldiers, and when Gazans ran to receive aid, over 210 Palestinians were massacred while four hostages were rescued. This is a war crime and it involves the USA directly.
In the UK, Jeremy Corbyn is doing the right thing. He is running as an independent, and I hope this principled man is elected.
He was accused of anti-semitism when he led the Labour Party because he rightly defended Palestinians. This is how the definition of anti-semitism put forward by the IHRA can be misused.
AOC, Bernie Sanders and the squad, where are your red lines? Are you willing to belong to a party that actively supports genocide? Maybe you should take a long look at Jeremy Corbyn’s move, and stop being complicit.
And, Canadian federal politicians, I hope you’ll think long and hard about your support for genocide too.
I agree with you 100%!
And I'd feel the same even if the timid Democrats had followed through on their campaign promises and delivered in essentials like healthcare for all, a livable minimum wage, addressing the homelessness crisis etc. They could do all those things, but if supporting, funding and running diplomatic cover for genocide was on their list I would refuse to vote for them. Hell, Adolf Hitler brought things like the Autobahn, more jobs, public projects, and an improved economy to Germany, but none of that outweighed the evil and depravity of the Holocaust. None of it. The same is true now with the US/Israel Gaza genocide because what the Americans and Israelis are doing now in Gaza and will be doing shortly in Lebanon is fascism. It is ZioNazism.
Couldn't agree more and, like you, seriously disappointed by The Squad. As for the election, Donald Trump is a vile human being and a narcissistic dictator wannabe, but Joe Biden is a genocidist. Neither deserves my vote and neither will get it. Both of the major parties suck; they're far more the same than different from one another. I will vote for Jill Stein if she is able to make it onto the ballot in my state, which is far from a given due to the two-party stranglehold on this nation's trash system.
