I celebrate the solstice each year as well with gratitude. Thank you for additional ideas to add to the ceremony of that special day. I like to think my hens are looking forward to longer days as well!
With deep Advent hope for Light to transform the unjust places of the world…so fossil fuel economies no longer cause the suffering of the most vulnerable yet least responsible for carbon doing its dastardly work in the atmosphere…and for peace to replace war!
Sharing this with you with my thanks for the Advent Light you shine by your living all year round!
I tend to spend Christmas alone - my ex worked in healthcare, and when we split up I continued the habit (my family are overseas). I enjoy the stillness, and it helps me slow down the consumerism. As someone who remains Covid cautious, gatherings are next to impossible, particularly in winter.
I use the time to reflect on the values supposedly behind the consumerist onslaught - generosity, open heartedness, warmth. They mean a lot more to me than overeating and more stuff.
I'm hoping my work at A Different Drum has impact for those who read my work and for those who see the effects of the work we're doing (and trying to expand) behind the scenes. I'm hoping that will be my life's work. Apart from that, I try to treat others as I would want to be treated, try to reduce my environmental impact, that sort of thing.
I’d love to be hearing these two at the MIR centre tomorrow night! I’m not free nor will I usually drive so far for one event! I won’t be supporting your reflections- valuable as they are! - with financial support. I’m going on 85, and have plenty of my own or others, already a part of me. Carry on!

You're welcome. I hope you and your hens have a lovely Winter Solstice, Tara!
