Thanks for sharing this great comprehensive article, you brilliantly wrote about many different aspects of the crisis in the Middle East and the world.

Diana, you wrote asking “As Israel continues its attack on Iran, and as Trump decides the extent of American involvement, how do we reign in Israel? How do we make them stop committing genocide in Gaza and bombing countries around them, the latest being Iran?”. Please allow me to say that the answer to your good question is simple, It is “MAGA” Make America Go Away.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and dedication to telling truth, you are such an inspiration to many. Please stay strong.

All the best to you,

Salute

"This has to be a turning point for humanity."

It has to be our turning point. We've either got to make a change and stop practicing war or we'll all be dead. Those are our only options. (There's no such thing as "green warfare" as I've heard a few people argue. How do they come up with such nonsensical ideas?)

Seriously? Green warfare? Wow! That's such an oxymoron.

It really has to be a turning point.

Hi Diana,

Please view this comment as a personal message to you (because you write such excellent articles), as well as a general comment to the community of bloggers criticising and exposing the prevailing order in the global village.

"Having correct information is the first step towards finding solutions." So true! But…

The information circulating across the internet is important, but without physical groups of people it lacks power. Think of the news to isolated people. Unfortunately, many netizens —bloggers, influencers and commentators— are keyboard warriors. Important? Yes! Necessary? Yes! Enough? Hardly! Without boots, gym shoes or bare feet on the ground no one is going anywhere.
Words without action. Sound and fury signifying nothing.

2. "We need to stop investing in NATO and put that money where it’s needed."

Who are the ’we’ you are referring to? Certainly not any of the progressive netizens, or any other opponent of the prevailing order. That must be a typo or a careless expression. I’m certain you can differentiate between those in charge, the rulers, and the general population. When writing an article entitled War of Words, you should be more careful about the words you use.

3. "if we can ‘t convince the people who lead and influence us, how do we make them change course?"

The people who lead us?! Can we refer to the people who protect, promote and provide for a genocide as our ’leaders’? The same people who cut aid to the needy to give tax cuts to the greedy? And "how do we make them change course?" Are you suggesting that the rape victim reason with the rapist? Where did you get the idea that the needy can convince the greedy? You’ll have as much chance as trying to convince the wolf to become a vegetarian.

4. "I love the BDS campaign and the effect it’s having on Israel’s economy."

I’m also part of the BDS campaign. It has, I assume, had an effect of Israel’s economy. It doesn’t however had much of an effect on the genocide. Have you forgotten that Israel is the rabid dog on USA’s leash. Did you know that both Coke & Pepsi (as well as many other commercial companies) have had military contracts to supply the troops?

In summary: We are at war. The enemy wins more and more of our territory and resources. What’s the use of "having correct information" if we lack the compass of basic truth?

Thanks for this critique, Joel.

I do think it's important to have correct information in order to have correct action. And what that action is, I'm not sure, but BDS is a good start. And action grows more action, sometimes in ways that aren't predictable.

I love the idea of a general strike, but that takes a lot of well informed and motivated people. We can't just wave a wand and make that happen.

The many people walking or going by boat to Gaza inspire me. We all have to do what we can to build this movement.
