Unfortunately I do not have much faith in our Western leaders. That's why I keep saying that we should rise against them or, at least, stop everything until they stop this madness.
The first fatality of the unprovoked US illegal and immoral bombing of Iran was the credibility of the United States. We've always had the morality of a card shark, but Trump's obscene betrayal of the diplomatic process -- including the murder of Iran's chief negotiator -- has burned any last ghost of a pretense of US reliability to the ground. No nation can nor should negotiate with the US. The rest of the world needs to build alliances, trade agreements, new banking systems and mutual defense treaties to shun and isolate the US and Israel. We don't deserve to be players in the world community until we get out shit together ... and get the shitheads out of office.
With a centuries old colonialist, imperialist mindset, that will be a challenge for those who benefit from it.
Trump makes the mistake of saying the quiet part out loud, like announcing on Truth Social that he was giving Iran sixty days after having previously denying he knew anything about the Israel attacks. We all knew he knew, but other presidents wouldn't have said it.
And much of the world is organizing with BRICS, which makes so much sense to me. With our neighbour to the south, and our neoliberal Prime Minister, Canada won't be joining any time soon.
The only good thing about Trump is that he blurts and burps out the lies with nary a care or worry about revealing who -- what -- he really is. He's a 'pants-down' model of US empire.
Long after Trump is gone his henchmen will find their prospects dimmed by their association with the most toxic president ever. Their fifteen minutes of infamy becomes a curse and haunting regret. They were not chosen for their competence, but for their impaired loyalty.
Anyone who has taken the time to truly investigate and inform themselves on the creation of Israel and the conflicts in the Middle East since, as well as the many incursions/invasions of the USA into other nations since WWII, can do nothing less than have to agree with the points you have made.
The difficulty for all of us who respect honesty and reality and transparency is that people are conditioned into certain views which become norms within their societies, i.e. they become dominant views and most people neither question them nor, if they do, call them out.
So, those of us who do call them out are largely 'preaching to the converted'. One can only will that we wake some out of their conditioning and cause them to read and think and call out the hypocrisy of our so-called 'leaders', i.e. those in power.
If we cannot do that and promote change then humanity is doomed, if not to destroy itself completely, at the very least to lives lived in fear and very real danger wherever they live across our planet.
I can't help but wonder if the genocide for all to see on our screens has changed some of this. I've heard of Zionists recently rejecting Zionism, for example.
My tendency is to radicalize people, and I'm not even sure why, since I'm not at all pushy about my views. I do what is meaningful to me and expect that others do what's meaningful to them, and before you know it they're activists.
So I do think people can change. I've also heard that, particularly in non-western nations, people's opinions of Israel have tanked. To a lesser extent in western nations too.
For all the agony Palestine is going through, it's opening a lot of eyes right now.
Sincerely will that you are right, Diana - humanity needs you to be right. I accept that it can take many differing approaches to produce change - to dissuade or to persuade or simply to open eyes providing the opportunity & I support you and all those who call for equity, respect for all life and understanding of difference as opportunity, not deficit or something to fear. Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
I can only hope that anti-Zionists and progressives remember a little history. The Obama administration worked out the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran in 2015. In 2018, Trump pulled out of the agreement, and the US reimposed sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the agreement. In other words, Trump is clearly far more hostile to Iran than Obama. Biden attempted to revive the deal with Iran but was unsuccessful (for various reasons).
The genocide in Gaza has gotten much WORSE, as Zionists and their Trumpista allies now seek to remove ALL the Palestinians (to prepare for Trump's oceanfront resorts).
Again, I state that Trump, who has already done incalculable damage to both the nation and the planet, should NEVER have been voted back into office. Harris would not have proposed the "big, beautiful bill" (increasing both debt and wealth gap); she would not have gutted the Department of Education, the EPA, and other such departments; she would not have appointed an anti-vaxxer to RFKs position; she would not have opened up huge tracts of the pristine US public land to drilling and mining interests; she would not have engaged in ICE raids and illegal imprisonments...The list goes on.
I hope those who stood by their "principles" and turned the country over to Trump are ashamed of their poor judgment. I assume they are very upset about his great "victory" over Iran.

Nor do I, Ismaele. I wish we had the numbers to rise up en masse and stop this madness.

And a creep like that is somehow a cult leader. I've never understood the attraction.

As much as I abhor Trump, I think the problem goes deeper. Both parties supported genocide for instance, and both would have supported war.
Agreed, see the blog I am posting in the AM.
I'll look out for it, Robert.
Well said!
